Eating and Exericse

Fitting exercise into your daily routine is super important for your health, and is also a great way to lose weight, stay trim, and stay positive. Jumping into a routine of Yoga, weight training, or running can be quite easy, if you're motivated enough. But the exercise isn't the only part of your routine you should concentrate on, how about when and what you should eat.

I have heard many theories on which foods to eat, at what time of the day, before or after the exercise. Many people eat what they want, when they can. How can we sit down and schedule meals, and a work out routine all while working, taking care of our homes, and our children? The answer is easy, if you want to lose weight, and keep it off, you have to! You have to set aside some "me" time, and jot down your weight loss goals, and keep a calendar.

If you are organized, you can schedule out your workouts, and your food choices. That will almost guarantee weight loss, and a happier healthier you.

Some eating and exercise tips:
  • Do not eat 3 hours prior to exercise (especially palates, or heavy cardio, it can cause stomach pain, or heart burn)
  • Yogurt is the best food to eat prior to weight training
  • Drink plenty of water before, during, and after exercise
  • Eat with-in one hour to one and and a half hours, after your work out (see below for the best post work out snacks)
Get Exercise Organized:
  • Get a journal/notebook/calendar book
  • Schedule out blocks of time you can exercise, and what you'll like to do (i.e Mondays 6-7am treadmill, Wednesdays 8:30am Yoga, Friday 5PM swimming). Treat workouts like a job that you love!
  • Schedule in your "meal" time, and jot down what you plan to eat. Don't worry if you don't stick to it, try your best to choose healthy options. The less calories you eat, the more weight you'll lose.

Best Post Work Out Foods:

The best thing to eat after a work out is protein. It helps build muscle and burn fat. Remember to check the portion size.
  • Eggs
  • Yogurt (also good before a work out)
  • Oatmeal with ground flax seed
  • Protein Bar or Shake

Eat less. Move more. Together we can beat the obesity problem of the U.S. and be a healthier, faster, stronger, slimmer, nation.

Did you know? Vitamin C is great to repair muscle tears, especially in your knees. Try Ester-C vitamin C supplements. (http://www.ester-c.com/)
